Make Bandung Religious, City Government and FKUB Socialize the Establishment of Houses of Worship

In order to realize the vision and mission of the City of Bandung which is superior, comfortable, prosperous and religious, the City Government (Pemkot) of Bandung and the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) socialized the regulations of two ministers, namely the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Home Affairs on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

This time, the socialization was carried out to the layers of the community unit (RW) in the Bojongloa Kidul District.

Joint regulation of the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Home Affairs Number 9 of 2006 / Number 8 of 2006 concerning guidelines for implementing the duties of regional heads or deputy regional heads in maintaining religious harmony, empowering religious harmony forums and establishing houses of worship.

Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana hopes, with this socialization, inter-religious harmony in the city of Bandung can increase. This is because maintaining the integrity of diversity is a shared task, especially during the establishment of houses of worship.

"In principle, the Bandung City Government gives freedom to build houses of worship as long as they comply with procedures, of course, it is not difficult for houses of worship to stand," said Yana.

He also appealed to the public to filter valid information. Because according to him, in this digitalization era, the slightest friction can grow into a big one.

"We will continue to disseminate the regulations with the two ministers properly so that we can both keep the city of Bandung conducive," he added.

Met at the same place, Head of Bandung City FKUB, Ahmad Suherman, said that Bandung City could have the same risk as the Ambon tragedy in 1999. This is the background behind the establishment of FKUB.

“In 2006, FKUB was born in Bandung City, and finally every city district has FKUB. Currently, only Bandung City FKUB is socializing the regulation. We start from the head of the service, then go straight to the RW level,” said Ahmad.

In addition to socialization, Ahmad said, the participants were also provided with material on national insight and religious harmony.
