TPS 3R di RW 12 Kelurahan Maleer

Take a peek at how they process waste, come on!

The Public Relations of Bandung City had the opportunity to visit TPS-3R in RW 12, Maleer Village and talk directly to the Lurah as well as the Cleaning Officer here.

The village head of Maleer, Warsan said, RW 12 Maleer Urban Village has been independent in processing waste from home.

He said this had been going on since 2019 or when the Kang Pisman program from the Bandung City Government was launched.

"We support and respond to this TPS-3R by educating residents. As a result, more than 80 percent of the residents here have been sorting waste from home,” said Warsan.

Warsan said, education on waste selection here is carried out on a massive scale. The residents were explained about the chronology of waste processing from the time the garbage appeared.

"In each RW, we provide socialization through the Environmental Service," he said.

The results of this education reduce at least 50 percent of the amount of waste in the location. Starting from organic waste, non-organic, also residual waste.

These three types of waste are processed into various products. Organic waste is processed into fertilizer and also a house for bacteria, then non-organic waste is sold to be processed into products of economic value.

TPS-3R optimization is also maximized. Every two days, janitors come to residents' homes to pick up trash.

Interestingly, the residents have handed over the garbage into 3 different buckets.

"This makes it easier for us to process waste," said Agus Iin as a janitor at TPS-3R RW 12, Maleer Village.

He hopes that in the future the awareness of sorting waste, especially in Maleer Village, will increase.

Previously, on Friday 8 July 2022, Bandung City Secretary Ema Sumarna visited 3 TPS-3R locations, including RW 01 Ciumbuleuit Village, RW 05 Panjunan Village and RW 12 Maleer Village.

Ema said that from the three locations, TPS-3R RW 12, Maleer Village, had carried out maximum waste processing efforts.

That said, because in this area, the mindset of the community in managing waste is much better. For example, such as the implementation of Kang Pisman, waste transportation schedules, to waste management at TPS.

"The mindset, actions, and behavior of the community are in line with what we expected. Public awareness to sort organic, inorganic and residue waste has been carried out," he said.

Ema also hopes that this waste processing effort can be carried out massively in 1,568 RWs in the city of Bandung, aka the snowball method. If this concept works, the hope of making Bandung a zero-waste city is no longer just a dream.

"Now zero waste is being promoted from the RW level. It can go up to the sub-district and sub-district levels. Imagine if this was achieved at the sub-district level, it means that the waste problem in Bandung City is finished," he said. (ray)**
