President Director of Perumda Tirtawening Sonny Salimi said that the plan to increase tariffs actually existed 10 years ago. So far, the plan is still pending.

"So, in fact, our delayed plan has been since 2013, the last time we set the tariff, until today, it took about 10 years to adjust the tariff," he said at the PDAM Tirtawening Office, Bandung City, Friday, September 2, 2022.

For that, his party will try to adjust the existing tariffs according to the rules of the central government and the decree of the Governor of West Java.

"Today we are trying to adjust it because prices are rising. PDAM Tirtawening is one of 5 cities that manages waste water but has not paid for it until today," he said.

Sony claims to be socializing the policy.

"Of course, this will also get bigger if only using the tariff for drinking water, so today we start the socialization. Our operations are still running and the community can access drinking water easily," he explained.

He revealed that the adjustment increase ranged from 30-40 percent of the current rate.

"The increase is around 30-40 percent of the average tariff (about 25 percent). The important thing is that we are still subsidizing for groups 1A, 1B, 2A, 2A1, 2A2 and 2A3. So we are issuing subsidies of more than Rp. 7 billion to subsidize customers," he explained. .

According to him, the increase in tariffs that apply to increase in November is also a form of follow-up to the decision letter from the Governor of West Java.

"The entry into force in November is in accordance with government regulations that every November every year is determined. This is a form of follow-up to what has been issued by the governor with a decree for lower rates of upper tariffs. So we are still at the lower rates set by the governor," he said.

Sony explained, the water consumption of Bandung residents is 15-18 cubic per month. Later it will be set in liters to make it easier.

"The daily consumption of city residents is 15-18 cubic meters per month. Later it will be set in cubic. But in 1,000 liters because in cubic it is heavy, if you look at 1 cubic is 1,000 liters, the price is only Rp. 3,000, meaning Rp. 30 per liter is much cheaper ," he said.

In response to this, the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, ordered that the implementation of socialization to the community must be massive.

"That socialization must be done first with the PDAM," he asked. (yes)**

Yana added, with the planned increase, of course the commitment to service must also be increased.

"Yes, of course the purpose of the adjustment is to improve services," he explained. (yes)**
