However, the Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna said that these efforts must be accompanied by a joint commitment with all stakeholders, both the government and Kali Lima Traders (PKL) to jointly revive the Cihampelas Terrace.

Some of the commitments of the Bandung City Government include, Ema said that he would use the Cihampelas Terrace as a place for activities for all regional apparatus organizations (OPD).

"I have given directions to help MSMEs, there are OPD carrying out activities here. The food and beverages are from MSME merchandise. There are meetings or socializations, we do it here. Please manage them by the management. So that we can be a part of contributing to business improvement, "said Ema after meeting with street vendors at Teras Cihampelas, Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

Ema also said that he would hold various events to encourage visitors to come to the Cihampelas Terrace.

"We will prepare supporting packages, for example, we will prepare entertainment, stage entertainment. We will make a kind of Bandung Fashion Week for example. If attracting visitors, they will come," he said.

In addition, Ema said that he would help with capital assistance for street vendors.

"There is room for capital assistance from MSMEs related to the impact of inflation. We ask for them to be facilitated. We can also connect them to become foster children of BUMN/BUMD," he said.

He said that currently 87 street vendors have committed to re-populate the Cihampelas terraces out of a total of 192 street vendors.

"We want all of the street vendors to be full, all the street vendors to move to the Cihampelas terrace. Those who are committed to 87 street vendors from 192 street vendors, we will continue," he said.

He explained, the development of various facilities improvements that have been carried out by the Bandung City Government to support activities at the Cihampelas Terrace.

The repairs include repairing kiosks, installing canopies, clean water facilities, repairing toilets, installing lighting facilities, WiFi and electrical installations.

"We are committed to providing facilities based on the aspirations of the traders. We will fix any deficiencies. We will repair facilities, such as lighting, electricity and water installations, and toilets," he said.

"Then we also absorb the aspirations of the street vendors, need WiFi. We have asked Diskominfo (Communication and Information Service) to immediately install WiFi. So that visitors will feel more comfortable," he added.

Ema admits that there are still a number of issues that are still of common concern, namely the absence of parking spaces. He admitted that the Bandung City Government was still looking for the best solution.

"Parking is indeed a problem, the government is not yet capable of building parking lots. Find the land first and submit it to the government. Temporarily participate in parking in private parking lots," he said.

According to Ema, the Cihampelas Terrace will be relaunched on October 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, one of the street vendors at the Cihampelas Terrace, Reka, said he was grateful for the reactivation of the Cihampelas Terrace which was being initiated by the City Government.

"Alhamdulillah, with this assistance, we will get more facilities," he said

He hopes that all street vendors in Cihampelas can be moved to Teras Cihampelas.

"There is a plan for reactivation on the terraces, terraces 5 and 6 will serve as pilots. However, if it is still busy below, what do we do. We ask that all of them be brought upstairs," he said. (rob)**
