This vaccine is given to people who have never received the Covid-19 vaccine.

IndoVac has been safely tested and certified halal. For 1.5 years, Bio Farma has conducted research and trials of this IndoVac vaccine.

Developed with recombinant protein technology that can be quickly adapted for new variants in the future, and is more easily distributed throughout the country.

"Many don't know that Bio Farma can produce 3 billion doses of vaccine in a year, which are exported to 153 countries," said Jokowi.

He explained that Bio Farma is a vaccine producer that is in the top 5 in the world.

"Bio Farma and produces various vaccines such as polio, diphtheria, meningitis, flu, measles, and now the covid vaccine that we call IndoVac," he said.

He continued, for the polio vaccine alone, Bio Farma was able to control the supply of 70 percent of the world market share.

With the ability to produce its own COVID vaccine, it is hoped that Bio Farma will be able to reach the vaccine dose capacity target of 40 million next year.

"In fact, it could be up to 120 million doses of vaccine if it is still needed. We will continue to encourage Bio Farma so that later it will actually generate a larger revenue for the country. So that we have true independence in vaccine matters," he hoped.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT. Bio Farma, Honesti Basyir said, after receiving an emergency clinical trial from BPOM, IndoVac will be used for the government's booster program.

He admitted, IndoVac is equivalent to other Covid-19 vaccines whose efficiency level is above 80 percent based on clinical trial data conducted on 4,050 volunteers.

"Starting from clinical trial 1, the AEFI is very light. What's even better, it's halal. From the start we have designed if this vaccine is of good quality and halal," Basyir admitted.

He also revealed that Bio Farma will continue to innovate, so that it can produce health products and reduce dependence on imported drugs.

"About 90 percent of the raw materials for drugs are imported. We want to reduce this. We try to integrate the ecosystem from RnD, manufacturing, institutions, supplies, health services, pharmacies, lab clinics, and hospitals," he explained.

Responding to the president's target of millions of doses of InoVac vaccine, he said, this vaccine will be focused on the country first.

"We also had discussions with WHO. There is potential for Indonesia to make donations to countries with low vaccination rates, such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Kenya," he said.

He said the target until the end of the year as many as 6.9 million doses of the first will be distributed throughout Indonesia.

"The target is that when our emergency use comes out, it will be used primarily for boosters. Because the primary is more than 80 percent," he said.

He added that currently his party is discussing with the Ministry of Health regarding the use of IndoVac for children aged 3-11 years.

"If needed, we will do clinical trials as well," he added. (din)**
