The fatigue of the Diskar PB officers was evident during the blackout process. All platoon teams and UPT were deployed in this incident.

Seeing this, the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, appreciated the performance of the Bandung City PB Diskar.

"Salute! The performance of our firefighters has been extraordinary. It's been more than 24 hours they have been trying to extinguish it. We can see that their fatigue level is extraordinary, but they continue to try to extinguish it," said Yana, Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

He admitted, if the blackout this time took a very long time. Because the material is classified as flammable, so it takes a long time to completely extinguish the fire.

"Regarding equipment, we continue to fulfill it for the Fire Service. Regarding water sources, we have conveyed it to the PDAM several times. Because the water source comes from them. However, it turns out that there are still some obstacles, one of which is water pressure," he said.

Yana appealed to each region to have several active hydrant points, making them easy to reach.

In this fire, as many as 20 fire engines from Diskar PB Bandung were sent down. In fact, on the first day, the PB Diskar for the City of Bandung received assistance from the PB Diskar for the City of Cimahi, Bandung Regency, and West Bandung Regency.

One large fire engine has a volume of 6,000 liters, while the small size has a volume of 4,000 liters.

Head of the Bandung City PB Diskar, Gun Gun Sumaryana, described the atmosphere and agility of the officers who did not go home before the fire was extinguished.

"There are 80-90 personnel for each platoon. We have 3 platoons. During the incident on the first day, 2nd platoon was deployed. Then, the next day 3rd platoon, and today 1st platoon," he explained.

"The total is about 250 people. However, colleagues in the office staff who used to be part of the combat team also helped out in the field. So the number increased," he continued.

At the beginning of the incident, the 2nd platoon at the command headquarters and the UPT were deployed because the fire this time was quite difficult to extinguish.

"For ordinary fires, usually enough UPT goes down. So we divide, some are on guard at the office, some go to the field. Each UPT we divide into two teams. When friends start to get tired, replace them with new ones," he said.

On the first day, one member of the 2nd platoon was rushed to the hospital due to lack of oxygen. Although the personnel who were rushed were classified as old, their spirits were still very high.

"Two other personnel only delivered. However, because yesterday's conditions were quite extreme, there was a lot of smoke, so it affected the body condition of the member. Currently, his condition has improved," he said.

He admitted that the blackout for the case took a very long time because it was classified as multi-block, the materials were flammable and difficult to extinguish, such as conductor materials, glue, and cardboard. In fact, this 2,000 meterĀ² warehouse is almost 70 percent filled with multi-block materials, all the way to the roof.

"So it makes the fire durable. Sometimes the top layer has been extinguished, but the bottom layer hasn't. As a result, the fire can rekindle," he admitted.

Therefore, Diskar PB continues to supply water because if it is too late, the hot bottom layer will become fire again.

Luckily, on the first day of the fire, the Bandung City PB Diskar was assisted by firefighters from the borders of Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, and West Bandung Regency. So that the water supply is maintained.

"We are really grateful to our firefighters from the border areas who have helped," he said.

So that similar incidents do not happen again, he appealed, if you are going to leave the house empty, make sure the stove is turned off. Power lines also need to be checked periodically.

"Don't stack multiple plugs in the same parallel. That can cause an electrical short," he stressed.

As for the warehouse, it is expected to provide a large water reservoir near the warehouse. So that when there is an initial fire, the water in that place can be used.

"Also provide a large APAR for initial handling so that the fire can be controlled more quickly," he added. (din)**
