Acute Kidney Failure in Children Treated, Sarga Is Called to Stay Alert

Cases of acute kidney failure in children domiciled in Bandung City are at zero. This was conveyed by the Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Bandung City Health Office, dr. Ira Dewi Jani in Bandung Answering, Tuesday 2 November 2022.

He said there had been 13 cases of acute kidney failure in children who were rushed to two hospitals in Bandung (12 cases to Hasan Sadikin Hospital and 1 case to Hermina Hospital). However, of the 13 patients, only one child lives in Bandung.

"No one is being treated, because that one was a case in August, and now the child is healthy," he said.

Furthermore, regarding the use of syrup for children, Ida advised the residents of Bandung City to continue to update information through the official BPOM RI website. For information, currently BPOM has issued a sixth circular regarding the use of syrup for children.

Ira also appealed to the public not to panic if the child experiences symptoms similar to acute kidney failure in children.

"Stay calm, don't panic. But also stay alert," he ordered.

He conveyed tips so that the community together could avoid the negative effects of this disease. First, he invites the public to diligently update information related to acute kidney failure in children.

Then, he advised parents not to hesitate to take their child to a health care facility if they had symptoms of acute kidney failure in their child. As a reminder, here are the symptoms:

1. Diarrhea,
2. Vomiting,
3. Fever for 3-5 days,
4. Cough & Cold,
5. The amount of urine is getting less, can't even urinate at all.

"Take it directly to the nearest health facility, so that later officers will diagnose whether this child is suffering from acute kidney failure or not," he said.

Finally, Ira appealed to the people of Bandung City to pay attention to the use of drugs for children.

"As much as possible use drugs according to the recommendations of health workers," he ordered.(ray)**
