When is a Total Lunar Eclipse? Record the Time and Follow the Salat Procedures
Through a circular letter, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Bandung City appealed to the public to carry out several practices during the total lunar eclipse on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
The initial lunar eclipse will take place from 16.09 WIB. Then the total start at 17.16 WIB. Mid eclipse 17:59 WIB. The final total is 18.41 WIB. And the end of the eclipse 19.49 WIB
With the occurrence of the eclipse, the MUI of Bandung City conveyed to Muslims to increase their faith and stay away from superstitious habits that lead to shirk.
One way to do this is to perform lunar eclipse prayers in congregation. For residents of Bandung City who will perform 2 rakaat eclipse prayers, the following procedures can be followed:
1. Perform ablution and intention in the heart for the lunar eclipse prayer.
2. In the first rak'ah, takbiratul ihram as usual prayers.
3. Read the iftitah and taawuz prayers, then read the letter Al Fatihah.
4. Then, continue reading a long letter, for example the letter Al Baqarah while dijaharkan (loud voice, not soft) as contained in the hadith of Aisha: "The Prophet SAW. recites (hardens) his reading during the eclipse prayer.” (Narrated by Bukhari no. 1065 and Muslim no. 901).
5. Then bow while lengthening the reading.
6. Then rise from bowing (itidal).
7. After this itidal do not immediately prostrate, but continued by reading the letter Al Fatihah and a long letter. This second stand is shorter than the first.
8. Then bow again (second bow) which is shorter in length than the previous bow. Then rise from bowing (itidal).
9. Then prostrate as long as bowing, then sit between the two prostrations and then prostrate again.
10. Then, get up from prostration and do the second rak'ah as the first rak'ah, except that the reading and movements are shorter than before.
11. Greetings.
After performing the eclipse prayer, the priest delivered a sermon to the congregation containing the recommendation to make remembrance, praying that the eclipse would pass without causing a catastrophe. Then do istighfar and give charity. (din)**
