Boosting Tourism Sector, City Government Releases Bandung Calendar of Event 2023
The Department of Tourism and Culture launched the 2023 Bandung Calendar of Events. In the 2023 Calendar of Events (COE) in Bandung, there were 78 supporting events and 10 top events as the face of the Bandung tourism sector which is expected to boost the regional economy.
In addition, it is also to promote the tourism attraction of Bandung City throughout 2023.
The launch of the Calendar of Events 2023 Bandung took place at the Grand Ballroom of El Royale Hotel, Bandung City, Monday 7 November 2023.
Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana said that organizing the event was an important step to restore the regional economy during the pandemic.
"The year 2023 offers a lot of hope for the tourism industry. Because there is a tendency for the Covid-19 pandemic to decrease, economic activity begins to rise, local, regional and national economic growth is predicted to improve," Yana said.
Yana said that efforts to increase tourism activity are not without problems, because the global crisis has the potential to reduce foreign tourist visits.
However, Yana is optimistic that the Calendar of Events 2023 can be an alternative for tourists from countries that are less affected by the global recession like Indonesia.
"The problem is how to maximize this potential to improve the tourism industry through the 2023 Calendar of Events," he said.
Yana hopes that the 2023 Calendar of Events can explore local potential and provide benefits to the community, give the best impression and experience for tourists, and can determine clear targets and targets for visitors.
"I believe that the community's economy can grow significantly. The existing events will be able to move the economy from the smallest community. Such as street vendors, grocery stalls, to upper-middle class businesses such as restaurants, hotels and transportation," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office, Arief Syaifudin, admitted that he had curated or selected the event several months ago.
According to Arief, the events that have been selected are events that have been carried out by elements of the government, tourism partners, and the community.
He said the selected events were ready to implement the COVID-19 health protocol and PPKM level 1.
"The city of Bandung is ready to present events in 2023. We are also ready to make tour packages to make the event a success in 2023," he said.
In addition, on that occasion a soft launching of the Tourism Board Tourist Information (TIC) Center at 23 Paskal Shopping Centers was also carried out which is a collaboration between Disbudpar and PT. Wings Indonesia and 23 Pascal Shopping Center
