Currently, television broadcasting is in transition from analog to digital. As is known, analog television services in the Jabodetabek area have been phased out since November 2, 2022.

In the West Java 1 Region (Bandung Raya), the transition process from analog to digital TV broadcasts will take place from the end of November 2022. Achmad said, the public can still access digital television broadcasts without the need to buy a new television.

“Old televisions can still be used with an additional tool, STB. It is in the distribution stage," he said.

Data in the Greater Bandung area, the current distribution of STB has reached 93 percent. The conditions for recipients of free STB include: poor people, can receive digital television channels, and own a television.

"The goal is that this assistance can be used by recipients," said Achmad.

Technically, the distribution of the STB will involve regional elements from the Kelurahan, District, or Village parties. People just have to wait until digital television channels can be enjoyed.

"The installation was assisted, so it was indeed door to door," explained Achmad.

He explained, since regulations related to ASO (Analog Switch Off) or the transition of television channels from analog to digital, the West Java KPID has massively held outreach to the public.

According to him, based on survey results, the community is relatively looking forward to this transition with a note that socialization on the use of STB needs to be massive.

In addition, switching television channels from analog to digital is also considered more economical for television broadcast operators.

He hopes that after the Analog Switch Off process later, the acceleration of the 5G network in Indonesia can have a positive impact on digital activities.

Of course, this will also have an impact on digital economic activities for the actors in the city of Bandung.

"To the public, especially in the city of Bandung (poor people), let's prepare STB so they can continue to enjoy digital television services," he said. (ray)**
