Head of the Bandung City Covid-19 Daily Task Force (Satgas), Asep Saeful Gufron, said that an increase in confirmed cases began in October 2022.

Currently, the status of the positivity rate in Bandung is at 9.71 percent with a BOR level of around 21.03 percent with a conversion of 13 percent.

In addition to people who are starting to ignore health protocols, the increasing factor also occurs due to the transmission of the XBB subvariant.

"The XBB subvariant Omicron reaches its peak in December 2022 to January 2023. We anticipate an increase in COVID-19 cases in the city of Bandung," Asep said at the Evaluation Meeting for Handling Covid-19 Cases in Bandung City, Friday 18 November 2022.

Asep said that from 11-17 November 2022, the addition of active Covid-19 confirmations in the city of Bandung touched 181 cases with a total of 1,180 active cases.

When compared with other cities/regencies in West Java, Bandung City has been included in the top four areas with the highest active cases.

For this reason, Asep emphasized that all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and regional officials can help speed up the booster vaccination process.

He said the booster vaccination or the third dose in Bandung City has reached 876,042 doses or 51.1 percent and the second booster/fourth dose for health workers has reached 14,126 doses with 57.17 percent.

Currently, there are more than 2,373 vials of vaccine available in Bandung.

"Please map the vaccine and accelerate the booster achievement. Carry out vaccinations again, the Health Office is to map out vaccine officers and spread to all sub-districts. To immediately complete the fourth dose of vaccination for health workers," he said.

In addition, Asep also asked the regional Covid Task Force to monitor residents' activities, increase socialization and education and prepare self-isolation places in each sub-district.

"The district coordinates with the Community Health Center and the Health Office to carry out mass vaccinations and prepare isoman places in the region and tighten community activities," he said.

Asep also ordered the Health Office to ensure the availability of vaccines and together with hospital directors to determine the need for treatment facilities in anticipation of a surge in cases of the XBB variant of the covid-19 virus.

"The capacity for tracing and testing will be immediately increased by collaboration between the health office and regional ranks," he said.

Not only that, Asep also mobilized the Education Office (Disdik) to also monitor health protocols (prokes) in schools and minimize extracurricular activities that could create crowds.

"We must also monitor the face-to-face learning process (PTM) and minimize extracurricular activities at school," he said. (rob)**
