This is then associated with phenomena and also natural disasters that are said to be hitting the city of Bandung.

Responding to this, the Bandung City Meteorology, Climatology, Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Earthquake Observation Staff, Ajeng Marina Utamie said, until today, Wednesday 30 November 2022, there has been no seismic movement on the Lembang Fault which has an impact on potential disasters, especially in the City Bandung.

"So it cannot be linked (the phenomenon of monkeys coming down to the city) with the potential for disaster in the city of Bandung," he said in Bandung Responding.

He revealed, people do not need to worry about natural disasters in the city of Bandung. This is because the BMKG will always provide the latest information so that disaster management in the city of Bandung can be carried out optimally.

In terms of disaster management, the Head of the Fire and Rescue Division of the Bandung City PB Diskar, Yusuf Hidayat said, the PB Diskar will always handle community complaints regarding relief and disasters.

More specifically regarding wild monkeys that enter residents' settlements, Yusuf admits that he continues to coordinate with various parties, including one of them the West Java Natural Resources Conversion Center (BBKSDA).

The coordination referred to is related to the steps to be taken if the monkeys are found and successfully evacuated.

“We have not been able to evacuate because the monkeys have changed locations. We received reports in the Puri Dago area, Kiaracondong, recently in the Dago area," he admitted.

"However, from the identification results we have seen, the monkeys found in these various locations appear to be the same type. So it is suspected that these monkeys actually moved around," explained Yusuf.

Regarding the link between the monkeys' descent into residents' settlements and the potential for disaster, Yusuf advised the public not to panic too much.

He ensured that Diskar PB would always serve the community if wild animals entered residents' settlements and disturbed the peace of residents.

"We urge residents, if you see an unfriendly animal, avoid physical contact. Don't stress the animal so it becomes wild," he ordered.

This does not only apply to monkeys, but various animals such as snakes for example. For information, the Bandung City PB Diskar has also handled more than 900 rescue cases throughout 2022.

"Residents of Bandung, please contact us at (022) 133," said Yusuf. (ray)**
