Bandung City Government Gives Award to Cooperative with the Best Healthy Predicate

As a form of appreciation to cooperatives in the city of Bandung that have received the title of being healthy from the results of a cooperative health examination. The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) handed over an award to the best cooperative at the 2022 Bandung City Cooperative Health Level Award at the Papandayan Hotel, Bandung, Monday 5 December 2022.

Pemerintah Kota (Pemkot) Bandung menyerahkan penghargaan kepada koperasi terbaik pada Penghargaan Tingkat Kesehatan Koperasi Kota Bandung 2022 di Hotel Papandayan Bandung, Senin 5 Desember 2022. 

The Cooperative Soundness Level Award was given to the three best cooperatives which were divided into three categories namely the Student Cooperative, Citizens Cooperative and Functional Cooperative categories.

UPI's Bumi Siliwangi Student Cooperative has won the best ranking for Student Cooperatives. Meanwhile, the BMT Baitul Muttaqin Sharia Cooperative is the best ranked Citizen Cooperative.

Meanwhile, the Bandung Adventist Hospital Employee Consumer Cooperative won the best ranking in the Functional Cooperative category.

The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, handed over the awards directly to the winners.

On that occasion, Yana said the cooperative had assisted the Bandung City Government in accelerating the process of post-pandemic economic recovery.

Based on records, continued Yana, in 2021 out of 700 cooperatives in the city of Bandung, the turnover will reach around IDR 1.4 trillion.

"So this potential is extraordinary. Cooperative friends, who so far, despite the pandemic, have continued to drive the economy of the city of Bandung," said Yana.

Yana hopes that cooperatives in the city of Bandung can continue to improve competence in terms of governance, risk profile, financial performance and capital

"Because cooperatives are basically the trust of their members. It's amazing that there are still a lot of healthy cooperatives in the city of Bandung that show good performance," he said

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Service (Diskop UKM), Atet Dedi Handiman said, Cooperatives still make a positive contribution to society.

This is also supported by optimal supervisory performance from the Bandung City Government through the Bandung City Office of Cooperatives and SMEs.

"We continue to strengthen oversight continuously. Developing oversight instruments ranging from improving the quality of functional positions of cooperative supervisors, creating an application system for cooperative oversight systems and assistance from public accountants and forming an anti-moneylender task force," he said.

According to Atet, the candidates for receiving the award are the results of the cooperative health examination for the 1st to 3rd quarter of 2022 on the cooperative's report for the 2021 financial year.

A total of 184 cooperatives out of 740 active cooperatives have been examined by functional supervisors of Bandung City cooperatives with aspects examined including governance, risk profile, financial and capital performance.

"We hope that cooperatives in the city of Bandung will become more resilient and modern in quality," he said.

The winners of the best healthy cooperatives were awarded certificates of appreciation from the Mayor of Bandung in the form of cash and trophies.
