Based on data received by Public Relations of the City of Bandung, the flooding that occurred in the Gedebage area was caused by the high intensity of rain in the upstream area (Ujungberung area). So that rainwater cannot be accommodated by the Cipamulihan River and its tributaries.

In addition, water coming from the upstream and from inside the Gedebage Main Market cannot be accommodated by the presence of a retention pond.

Likewise, the water that comes from inside the Gedebage Main Market carries a lot of garbage. Also, the water condition of the Cinambo River is parallel to Jalan Cimincrang.

Head of Gedebage Maintenance Operational UPTD at the Highways Water Resources Service (DSDABM) Mochamad Mucharam revealed that currently the Gedebage area is one of the priorities for flood management. Mainly around the front of the Gedebage Main Market.

"Because it causes traffic jams on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta when it floods in front of the Main Market. The road cannot be passed by vehicles," he said, Monday 12 December 2022 evening.

Various ways have also been done Bandung City Government. Starting from dredging the waterways beside the market, maintenance in the form of dredging the Cipamulih River with heavy equipment, desludging using a pump house, and cleaning clogged water lines.

"Indeed, yesterday's (flood) handling was rather long, requiring 4 hours. Twice as long as usual," Mucharam added.

Overall, data from the Bandung City DSDABM explained that until now, the total number of inundation points in Bandung City was 68 with various handling efforts carried out by the Bandung City DSDABM.

Starting from the target of 9 retention ponds, 3,706 drumpores, 647 infiltration wells, and 14 pump houses.

In addition, handling of critical land has also been carried out. Among them: Wetland Cisurupan, Mbah Celeng Hill, Mbah Garut Hill, Kanbay Garung, Padjamsah Mati River/Ditch, and the Valley of 101 Stairs.

In closing, Mucharam advised all parties, both the government and the people of the city of Bandung to maintain cleanliness, especially maintaining the behavior of disposing of garbage.

According to him, orderly disposing of garbage will greatly assist the government's efforts to prevent flooding at several vulnerable points.

"Don't throw garbage anywhere, throw it in its place," he advised. (ray)**
