The inauguration was carried out by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and was attended by a number of ministry officials, regional heads, and also the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana.

In addition, there were also various Muslim communities from a number of West Java regions.

The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, welcomed the presence of the Great Al Jabbar Mosque, located in the city of Bandung. He is grateful that the mosque, which also contains the treasures of the journey of Muslims in Indonesia, is now in the city of Bandung.

"We welcome positively. Hopefully it will be useful and good for all of us, especially for the people of Bandung City," he said.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil in his remarks said the construction of the Great Al Jabbar Mosque had a long history since 2017.

At that time, Emil, as he is affectionately known, was still the Mayor of Bandung, acting as the architect of the Al Jabbar Great Mosque. The groundbreaking process was carried out in the era of Governor Ahmad Heryawan.

"It's not a coincidence, this mosque has a mathematical background (Algebra or Al Jabbar), and also Jabbar, which can be associated with the abbreviation of West Java. Come on, let's prosper this mosque," he said.

The mosque, which was built on an area of about 25 hectares, has a capacity of around 30,000 people, with details of 10,000 people in the indoor area and 20,000 people in the plaza area.

In addition, there are 27 doors symbolizing 27 regencies and cities in West Java which are symbolized by the batik designs of each city and regency.

In the area below the mosque, there is also a digital museum containing material from the journey of Islamic civilization in Indonesia, especially West Java.

The mosque which is also popularly known as the 'Floating Mosque' is also surrounded by a retention lake to absorb water coming from the north to the south of the Bandung City area.

For information, this one infrastructure is also in line with flood handling efforts in the eastern area of Bandung City, especially the Gedebage area. At the moment, the construction of a retention pond is one of the efforts being intensified by the Bandung City Government. (ray)**
