Bandung City Government Ready to Support Drafting Academic Papers for Regional Regulations Prohibiting LGBT
The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) expressed support for the formation of regional regulations (Perda) related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT).
Previously, the Bandung City DPRD had discussed drafting a regional regulation on the prevention and prohibition of LGBT. The discourse was inspired by the aspirations of the incoming community groups.
The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana expressed his support for this.
"I of course agree because apart from violating religious norms, legal norms too," Yana said at the Arcamanik Sport Youth Center, Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
However, according to him, for the process leading to the ratification of the regional regulation, it should still be returned to the authorities, namely the members of the DPRD.
"However, we will return everything to those who are honorable in the DPRD because the legislation process is there," he said.
If the regulations have been agreed upon, Yana said, his party would be ready to contribute to compiling a joint academic paper.
"If the regulations are agreed upon, we can compile the academic papers together," he added. (din)**
