Converting public transportation into microbuses, BRT is ready to pave in the city of Bandung in 2024
Even though it is still early 2023, the public transportation service program in the form of microbuses or what is known as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will be ready to launch in 2024.
This is an embodiment of the Bandung City Regional Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMD). The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana said that the RPJMD would focus on repairing and developing infrastructure facilities.
"Not only Bandung Caang Baranang, retention ponds, and fly overs. Public transportation is also continuously optimized to make people more comfortable and safe," said Yana after Bandung Responding, Wednesday 25 January 2023.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Transportation Service (Dishub), Dadang Darmawan explained, optimizing microbus transportation functions to convert public transportation.
"The calculation is that the microbus can accommodate 20 passengers. Meanwhile, the current public transportation has 10 passengers. So from the two public transportation, around 20 passengers can be converted by one microbus," explained Dadang.
He said that the new transportation transformation plan was proposed to be present in 2024. The Bandung City Government is working with transport cooperatives in the City of Bandung to harmonize this program.
"We are proposing operational costs from the regional budget, while the fleet is from the operator, in this case the transportation cooperative," said Dadang.
So that in 2024 BRT trials will be carried out on 6 routes involving transport cooperatives.
"This is also our effort to continue to communicate so we can prepare feeder transportation in the city of Bandung to welcome the LRT later," he said. (din)**
