Elina Ceramics, Craft Products from the City of Bandung that Translucent Internationally

One of the ceramic manufacturers with a high artistic sense in the city of Bandung is Elina Keramik.

Elina Keramik or better known as Studio 181 is located on Jalan Taman Pramuka, Bandung City. Its founder is Elina Farida. Remarkably, his ceramic products were nominated for the Indonesia Good Design Selection (IGDS) in 2005 and 2006.

Adhika, the manager of Elina Keramik as well as the child of Elina, said that the establishment of Elina Keramik was because Elina graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Ceramic Arts. Apart from that, Elina also wants to develop ceramic crafts in Indonesia.

Located in the middle of Bandung City, this Ceramic Studio was founded in 2001 and can be one of the recommendations for places to develop an interesting hobby to try because apart from selling various ceramic products. This place also holds workshop classes.

"We open workshop services every Monday-Saturday," said Adhika.
 
Meanwhile, the cost of workshops at Elina varies depending on the choice of class.

"The price for a workshop here can be from Rp. 250,000-Rp. 500,000," he added.

Elina Keramik has also exported its products to a number of countries. Among them, Dubai and Japan. Elina Keramik also provides home decoration needs such as house number decorations or wall hangings and tableware such as plates, bowls and glasses.

Elina Keramik has 2 types of clay, there is stoneware clay which is gray in color from Sukabumi and there is generally known earthenware clay which comes from Plered Purwakarta.

"Incidentally, we produce stoneware clay because the quality is better than earthenware," said Adhika.

Not only regular orders, Elina Keramik also accepts custom orders that suit the needs of its customers, such as the need for cafes or galleries.

"The price of the product depends on the size and level of difficulty, the cheapest is around IDR 100,000 and the most expensive is IDR 500,000," said Adhika.

The process of making Elena Keramik can take 1 to 2 weeks, after the product is formed there is then a drying process. Then the first burning process finally the product is ready to be colored to go to the second burning.

"Sooner or later the ceramics will depend on the weather. If it's dry, it can be faster, just because now it's the rainy season, it's taking a while," said Adhika.

Elena Keramik also provides custom colors for each product ordered, so consumers will not feel confused because they will be given a color catalog later.
