Bandung City Government Launches Pangersa, 410 Families Receive Food Aid

As many as 410 heads of households received food assistance in the Food program for Vulnerable and Stunting Vulnerable Areas (Pangersa) at the Babakan Ciparay District Office, Monday 27 March 2023.

The food aid consisted of 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of chicken, 1 kg of catfish, 1 kg of chicken eggs and vegetables. The provision of this assistance also marked the launch of the Pangersa program.

It should be noted that Pangersa's goal is to reduce expenditure burdens by fulfilling some of the food needs with a variety of nutritious foods through the B2SA (Diverse, Nutritious, Balanced and Safe) program.

One of the beneficiaries, Aah Sutiah, a resident of RT 10, Sukahaji Village, expressed his gratitude for this assistance. He will use the assistance for his family's consumption.

"Thank you Bandung City Government, I will process this assistance into healthy food," he said

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Bandung City TP PKK, Yunimar Mulyana said, the availability of healthy and nutritious food was an effort to prevent and reduce stunting rates in the City of Bandung.

"Today, assistance is provided to families who are food insecure and at risk of stunting. This time, they will provide nutritious food including rice, chicken meat, chicken eggs, catfish and vegetables," he said.

He added that the presence of the Pangersa program was a form of the Bandung City Government's efforts to provide nutrition for the community.

"Currently the stunting rate in the city of Bandung is 19.4 percent. For the target of 14 percent, one of them is through activities like this. The Bandung City Baznas has also provided assistance by providing Budikdamber, vegetable plants to 755 families," he said.

In the same place, the Head of the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Security Service, Gin Gin Ginanjar said Pangersa was one of the efforts to reduce poverty and prevent stunting.

"This is one of our efforts to tackle food insecure vulnerable areas in the city of Bandung. Because we already have a vulnerability map, there are several priority urban villages," he said.

"There were 410 heads of families who received this assistance. This time it was provided to 2 sub-districts, namely Sukahaji Sub-District and Mekarwangi Sub-District," added Gin Gin.

He said, the provision of food assistance to areas prone to food insecurity and families at risk of stunting was carried out in 2 stages, the second stage is planned to be distributed in May.

"The beneficiaries are based on proposals from the urban village which include Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) or those that have been proposed through deliberations and have been verified by the Social Service. Meanwhile for families at risk of stunting, beneficiaries are based on suggestions from the DPPKB and the Health Office," he said.

Gin Gin said, there are indicators of food insecurity areas from the food security and vulnerability map (Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas - FSVA).

"We have an FSVA so a map of vulnerability and food security, this maps out the village basis, how is the availability of food then where to access food purchases, such as markets. In addition, the level of purchasing power and support for other facilities, such as clean water. We evaluate and accumulate it So which areas are the priority," he explained. (yan)**
