Even so, the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, ensured that there was no trash scattered on the main streets of Bandung City.

As for the accumulation of waste that still occurs at a number of TPS, said Ema, this is inseparable from the normalization process at the Sarimukti TPA. However, the Bandung City Government also made various efforts to process waste.

Starting from optimizing the temporary TPA in Cicabe, to educating the public regarding waste management.

"Operational TPA Cicabe, once again I make sure it is temporary. If the Sarimukti landfill is operating normally, I can guarantee that we will not use the Cicabe landfill again," said Ema, Friday 5 May 2023.

Apart from the Cicabe TPA, Ema and the Bandung City Government also monitored various locations, starting from TPS in Babakan Siliwangi, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Cigondewah, and also Cijerah.

It can be seen that in several TPS, garbage has accumulated. Especially in TPS which is close to the market.

Meanwhile, the conditions at TPS Babakan Siliwangi have relatively improved and reduced the amount of waste. Apart from that, the polling station area looked more closed.

“Several polling stations near the market generally show such conditions. Because the production of waste is extraordinary. We will try to coordinate with Plh. The President Director of Perumda Pasar should educate the market community regarding waste management in the market area," said Ema.

At present, the efforts of the Bandung City Government through the Environment Agency are to sprinkle citronella oil to temporarily reduce the bad smell caused by the accumulated garbage, especially in the TPS which is close to the market.

On the other hand, Ema also conveyed the development of the Sarimukti TPA, where there is a zone that is being rebuilt.

"There is access that will be maximized. If everything is normal, we will return there and we will also provide education on waste management to the community," said Ema.

Ema is optimistic that efforts to deal with waste in the city of Bandung will gradually return to normal and will be better with several efforts and approaches such as educating the public.

“This city belongs together. Let's be responsible proportionally, which is the responsibility of the government, which is the participation of the community," he concluded. (ray)**
