Commemoration of Kartini Day: Empowered Women, Improve Family Quality
The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) held a number of events to commemorate Kartini Day last April. These series of activities are an effort to increase the role of women in every aspect of family, community, nation and state life towards sustainable and just development.
One of them was holding outreach on prevention of violence for women and children in the Disarpus Hall on April 6 2023.
"The holding of activities to commemorate Kartini's Day in 2023 carries the theme 'Empowered Women, Improve Family Quality'," said the Head of the Bandung City Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office, Uum Sumiati.
Uum said that the important thing in commemorating Kartini Day is that women's emancipation has a contribution to gender justice.
"In its development, women's emancipation has made an important contribution to the realization of gender justice. Men and women must have access, participation, control and benefits in development," he said.
"This activity is also expected to increase the participation of women's organizations in increasing women's participation in development in the city of Bandung," he added.
Uum reminded that Kartini's struggle had given Indonesian women equal rights.
Meanwhile, the Assistant for General Administration, Tono Rusdiantono, said that women could emulate Kartini's spirit in her creativity, tenacity and caring.
"The role of women in the city of Bandung will be a benchmark for the success of development in the city of Bandung, for this it is hoped that all stakeholders can jointly support the role of women in various development sectors," she said.
The following are a number of Kartini Day commemoration activities held by the Bandung City Government:
1. From April 5 to 17, 5 family webinars were held via Zoom Meeting by Puspaga Bandung City.
2. On April 6, the Socialization on Prevention of Violence against Women and Children was carried out at the Disarpus Hall.
3. On April 15 2023, Racik (Children's Cheerful Ramadan) will be held at the Descade Park, Taman Sari Village, Bandung Wetan District by Fokab (Bandung City Children's Forum).
4. On April 17, 2023, gifts were handed over to the Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School by the Bandung City DP3A in collaboration with Perumda Bank Bandung, Bandung City KPKB, the Thionghoa Care Community.
5. On May 4, 2023 a women's organization was held at the Bandung City Hall by the Bandung City DP3A. (yan)**
