Official! The City of Bandung and Kawasaki Collaborate to Improve Human Resources for Wastewater Treatment

The City Government (Pemkot) of Bandung and the City of Kawasaki, Japan are collaborating in improving the Human Resources (HR) for wastewater treatment and air quality in the City of Bandung.

This was stated in the signing of the Implementation Agreement (AI) between the Kawasaki Water Management Bureau, Perumda PDAM Tirtawening, the Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM), the Housing and Settlement Area Service (DPKP) and the Environment Service (DLH) and witnessed directly by Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna during the Kick Off and Seminar on Bandung City & Kawasaki City Gesuidou Project at Hotel Holiday Inn Pasteur Bandung, Wednesday 17 May 2023.

Kawasaki City Water Management Bureau Chief Management Officer, Osawa Taro said, this cooperation is in the framework of human resource training for waste water management which can later be disseminated to the community.

In addition, there was an exchange of knowledge and experience from the City of Kawasaki which has environmentally friendly waste water management technology and will be applied in the City of Bandung

"This is to realize an increase in the quality of wastewater in the city of Bandung," he said.

This project, he said, would immediately run within 3 years of the signing of AI.

"So within 3 years the City Government and Perumda staff will receive waste water treatment training from the City of Kawasaki," he said.

For this reason, the Mayor of Bandung's Daily Executive, Ema Sumarna, appreciated the cooperation in waste water treatment with the City of Kawasaki.

According to him, the management of waste water management in handling environmental quality still needs attention and attention from all parties.

The presence of this cooperation is an advantage for the City of Bandung in an effort to increase the capacity and capability of apparatus resources, especially in handling water quality. This includes waste water and efforts to improve air quality in the city of Bandung.

"Hopefully it can provide improvements, especially in waste water management and air quality in the city of Bandung," he said.

For information, this collaboration is a continuation of the MoU that was implemented between the City of Bandung and Kawasaki on 6 February 2020.

This collaboration is also supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Indonesia and the Ministry of PUPR. (rob)**
