DPR Praises Readiness of Bandung City for 2024 Election

"Support from the regional government is very important, because in November 2024 there will be simultaneous regional elections, this is history. Because it is a historical first, it is important that the synergy collaboration between the Regional Election Supervisory Body and the KPU ensure that the preparations and readiness for the elections go well," he said.

This was disclosed by Saan during the Specific Work Visit of Commission II of the DPR-RI during the V Session Period for the 2022-2023 Session Year in the Context of Preparation and Preparedness for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections to the City of Bandung at the Bandung City Hall, Wednesday 24 May 2023.

He assessed that the readiness and preparations for the Election in the City of Bandung had gone well and were ready from the technical preparations to other stages.

"Apart from ensuring the technical preparations, we want all stages to go well. We ensure that election organizers must be professional, transparent and accountable so that the results meet our expectations," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, said preparations for holding the General Election (Pemilu) stages in Bandung City were going well and smoothly.

He ensured that the Bandung City Government together with the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Bandung City Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) would continue to work together for the success of the 2024 simultaneous elections.

"Alhamdulillah, we have the honor of visiting the DPR. Hopefully this will be a gift. Our support capacity will optimally be able to carry out and support the February 2024 elections and the November 2024 simultaneous local elections," he said.

Ema ensured that the Bandung City Government would continue to provide support for holding elections through an adequate budget.

In addition, to ensure that all residents of the city of Bandung get their right to vote, the Bandung City Disdukcapil continues to record e-KTPs for the community.

"In general, 90 percent of e-KTP recordings have entered recording. Especially new age which has not been recorded. The distribution of services there are 30 sub-districts 151 urban villages, we have collaborated with service outlets, MPP and ball pick-ups to the community to provide the best service," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the KPU for the City of Bandung, Suharti said that the Bandung City Government fully supports his party in preparing for the General Election. Starting from budget support to outreach.

"Thank you, the City Government has carried out socialization to the RT level, and socialization related to voting rights and election stages," he said.

"The KPU is always supported by data from the Bandung City Disdukcapil, making it easier for us. Thank God, this process makes it easier for us to update Bandung city voter data. So it is more accurate," he added.

In the city of Bandung there are 7,438 polling stations (TPS) with more than 1.8 million voters. For this reason, he asked all stakeholders to jointly be able to make the election successful.
