Bandung City Athletes Contribute 23 2023 SEA Games Medals for Indonesia

One of them was donated by women's basketball athlete, Clarita Antonio Senjaya. He said during the SEA Games yesterday, his team competed six times.

"From those six matches, we immediately competed in a row. We were only given a break on the last day. But fortunately we were able to do our best and get the best results," said Clarita at the KONI Building, Tuesday 30 May 2023.

He said, in the first two games the score was quite tight. Because they are still adjusting to the field and the ring. However, after the third game onwards the Indonesian women's basketball team can start adjusting to the court and ring.

"Everything can be better, the performance is also better. Even though the body feels tighter and sore. But we are assisted by coaching staff from the official team. There are ice beds in each room," he said.

According to him, no opponent is too tough to face. However, if you look at the score, it was quite tight when they competed with Vietnam and Thailand.

"Our toughest opponents are ourselves. But from the score, maybe Vietnam and Thailand, because in the first two games they had a hard time adjusting to all the field conditions," he admitted.

"We also meet Thai players often, have often played together. They also have been preparing for a long time with the same players, so the chemistry is better," he added.

Meanwhile, Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna said, Bandung City athletes who contributed gave medals as much as 6 percent for Indonesia.

"A total of 23 medals were won by athletes from the city of Bandung. If we convert again with the number of athletes from West Java, the city of Bandung is around 27.8 percent. This is very proud if we compare it with the previous year's SEA Games which were held in Vietnam," Emma said.

He is optimistic that the city of Bandung can become the overall champion in all sports competitions. So that the athletes who have fought in events like this are people who have been measured and have competence in any branch.

To appreciate the hard work of the athletes, he said the Bandung City Government and DPRD had committed and agreed that there would be additional appreciation in the form of kadeudeuh money.

"Of course we will discuss it with the honorable council and it is usually included in the APBDP discussion phase. We will make a study of it. But in principle, we agree enthusiastically and it will later be adjusted to the level of existing financial capabilities," he said.

In addition, the Chairman of the Bandung City KONI, Nuryadi explained that since May 2, 2023 the Bandung City Government has provided pocket money to the athletes entrusted to the Bandung City KONI.

"There are 15 sports branches involved from the Bandung City KONI to support the Indonesian team," said Nuryadi.

He described several sports that won gold medals including women's basketball, badminton, men's indoor hockey, soccer, taekwondo, indoor volleyball.

"Then, sports that won silver medals include badminton, e-sport, finswimming, kun bokator, pencak silat, and water polo," he continued.

While the sports that won bronze included badminton, finswimming, indoor hockey, outdoor hockey, obstacle race, indoor volleyball, and water polo. (din)**
