Prior to being sent to the Bogor Palace, Jokowi's limousine cattle were quarantined

Like a falling windfall, the owner of Dwi Sejahtera Perkasa (DSP) Farm, Vandry Dwitama, received an order for limousine cattle for the sacrifice of the Indonesian president, Joko Widodo. It's not an easy matter to pass the medical test for the president's sacrificial animals.

He explained, initially he offered his two cows to be bought by the president. However, it turns out that only one tail managed to pass the test.

"The cow ordered by Pak Jokowi is the same height as me, 185 cm. Now it's being quarantined first so it's sterile. Later we'll send it to the Bogor Palace," Vandry said when met at the Bandung City DPP office.

He is working with DKPP Bandung City to find a cow representative for the president. From DKPP Kota Bandung then submitted to DKPP Jabar. After that proceed to the ministry.

"The selection was quite difficult and there were many. Starting from blood, urine, feces, and saliva tests as well. I offered two cows, but one that passed was a limousine named Markoci," he explained.

Currently, Markoci weighs 1 ton 50 kg, is 3 years old. Vandry said Markoci's weight could add up to 1 ton 100 kg.

Not only the president, actor Baim Wong also bought 9 cows on his farm. The types are limousin and simmental cattle.

"Our farm is in Cisurupan Village, Cibiru District, Bandung City," he said.

Vandry has been in the livestock world for 10 years. He started by raising sheep, then ventured into cattle. He started his sheep business for 2 years, after which he continued to cows.

"About 7 years means we have raised cattle. Everything started from scratch. Previously, we worked in banking. Then resigned, then continued in the livestock business," he said.

He explained, there is a difference in how to take care of large cows with ordinary cows. Even from the cage was different. For large limousine and simmental cattle, they need good bedding to strengthen their legs so they don't get injured.

"We put a foam or plastic carpet under it as a foothold. We also provide food twice a day in the morning and evening. We also provide additional nutrition and vitamins such as bananas and cassava. That is mandatory food for big cows," he explained.

This year, there are 330 cows available in a 5,000 square meter barn. Meanwhile, as many as 3,200 sheep were housed in a 2.5 ha enclosure. Everything is in the Cibiru farm.

"Now is the time for the digital era, we also sell online on Instagram @dspfarm.official. It's the same on Tiktok and YouTube," he said.

He obtained his seeds from Central Java and East Java, where the population of simmental and limousine cattle is much larger than in West Java.

Apart from large cattle, Vandry also sells Parahyangan or rancah cattle. Then, two types of sheep namely Priyangan and Garut sheep.

"The price range for ewe starts from Rp. 1.4 million. While for rams it is Rp. 2.2 million. For cattle, the price starts from Rp. 18 million," he said.

He brought one of his limousine cattle weighing 900 kg named Bunhao. The cow is priced at IDR 80 million.

"Last year they sold 277 tails, this year the target is more than 300 tails sold," he hoped.

He also hopes that more and more people will enter the world of animal husbandry. Apart from the fact that this field is very promising, the demand for meat in the city of Bandung has not been fully met to date.

"This is also one of our efforts to fulfill food security in the city of Bandung," he added. (din)**
