This second Technical OJT activity was opened directly by the Head of the Bandung City Health Service (Kadinkes), Anhar Hadian, at the Courtyard by Marriott Bandung Hotel, Tuesday, November 7 2023.

Wolbachia is a genus of bacteria that lives as a parasite in arthropod animals. Wolbachia infection in animals will cause parthenogenesis, death of male animals, and feminization. This bacteria is classified as Gram negative, rod-shaped, and difficult to grow outside the host's body.

On that occasion, Anhar expressed his concern that there would be an increase in dengue fever cases in Bandung City at the start of the rainy season.

"It is hoped that the Wolbachia program will be one of the efforts that can reduce dengue fever cases in the city of Bandung," said Anhar.

For this reason, Anhar invites Bandung City residents to support the "ce Woli Jawara" program to prevent dengue fever, Wolbachia Jagi Wargi Bandung Champion.

Previously, the Bandung City Government had implemented the Wolbachia bacteria innovation in Aedes aegypti mosquito eggs in Ujungberung District.

Second Technical OJT Speaker Strategy and Management of Wolbachia Implementation in Bandung City, dr. Iriani Samad appreciated the City of Bandung's efforts to implement Wolbachia which was first released in the Pasanggrahan Village, Ujungberung District.

"Then we will move on to the other 4 sub-districts," said Warsito.
