"The construction of maggot hangars in sub-districts must be accelerated, of course this can overcome the accumulation of organic waste," said Bandung City Regional Secretary, Ema Sumarna during a coordination meeting for Waste Management during the Waste Emergency Period at Bandung City Hall, Monday 20 November 2023.

Ema targets that maggot cultivation can process 1 ton of organic waste per day in one sub-district. Later, the maggot hangar will stand on land measuring 10 x 10 meters.

The management comes from a labor-intensive organic waste processing program. A total of 604 people were recruited to become organic waste processing officers who were distributed to 151 sub-districts in Bandung City. Apart from that, there were also 50 companions.

Ema also said that currently she is preparing the Gedebage Waste Processing Site (TPS). At this TPS, 10 mini gibrik machines and maggot cultivation will be prepared. It is hoped that it can manage more than 38 tons of waste per day.

"There (TPS Gedebage) waste is processed, from maggots, compost to 10 gibrik chopping machines. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of November," said Ema.

Ema revealed that currently the Gedebage TPS is still in the preparation stage. In the near future, biofoam will also be prepared for maggot cages.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Environmental Service, Dudy Prayudi, said that as of November 19 2023, there were still 4 TPS that were overloaded, this data was reduced from the previous 8 TPS.

The four polling stations are in Gedebage, Baturengat, Taman Holis and Ciwastra.

"For controlled polling stations, it increased from 214 TPS to 229 TPS, while it has not yet been completed, it decreased from 33 TPS to 22 TPS, and TPS overload from TPS 8 decreased to 4 TPS," said Dudy.

Dudy revealed, of the 1300 tons of daily waste, 628 tons can be received by the Sarimukti TPA, the rest is processed in several clusters. He also said that various waste processing schemes were continuing to be implemented.

"In the future, organic processing can be carried out, 151 tons in Maggotisasi sub-district, 166.6 tons in Kang Empos, 180 tons per day in Gibrik machines at 11 TPS," he said.

"We will also compost around 41 tons of provincial land per day, with an incinerator of 44 tons per day. This is our scenario. Hopefully it will run optimally," he said. (rob)**
