Various Efforts Continue to Be Boosted, Bandung City Government is Optimistic about Reducing Stunting Rates

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to strive to reduce stunting rates. The reason is, in 2023, the Bandung City Government is pursuing a stunting prevalence target of 17 percent.

"Actually, our target for 2023 is 17 percent, approximately 106 thousand of under fives," said Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, on the sidelines of monitoring Posyandu Sakura 01 Sukasari District, Thursday 23 November 2023.

Bambang added that the Bandung City Government continues to step on the gas to reduce the stunting rate. One of the efforts is to routinely weigh and measure toddlers.

"Pregnant women or parents can see the development of toddlers. This is an advantage, of course the government's motivation to reduce stunting rates," he explained.

He revealed that routine activities at posyandu are mandatory to measure children's development. So that it can be monitored better in the future.

"This is monitoring at the posyandu level. Carrying out routine activities, weighing and so on," said Bambang.

Bambang revealed that a number of programs had been rolled out by the Bandung City Government to reduce the stunting rate, including Tanginas (Bandung Stunting Response with Safe and Healthy Food) and Pangersa (Food Program for Stunting-Prone Areas).

In the same place, Sukasari Community Health Center UPTD Nutritionist, Arriska Amalia, said that one of the posyandu which has regular activities is Posyandu Sakura 01, Sukarasa Village.

"Today there is a target of 99 toddlers. Thank God, the community participation is good," he said.

He said that in the Sukarasa sub-district area, around 6 percent were recorded as being at risk of stunting.

"In this sub-district, data for August 2023, there are around 6 percent of posyandu here," he said.

According to him, manual recording was re-analyzed using the e-important application. This is an early detection to avoid stunting.

"We continue to record important and manual e-applications.
After looking at the application, toddler problems regarding nutrition, such as short and very short, to malnutrition and poor nutrition. "Furthermore, counseling will be carried out for health workers at the posyandu," he said.

Apart from that, outreach was also carried out regarding stunting education and providing additional food to toddlers.

"Every month we provide counseling on stunting, providing additional food for toddlers, as well as socializing about Clean and Healthy Lifestyles (PHBS)," he said. (yan)**
