Bandung City Regional Secretary, Ema Sumarna, said that the presence of pule plants in the Jalan Sudirman area is an effort to re-green this area, which has recently started to become barren.

He ensured that 75 percent of the pule plants planted grew in good condition.

"Apart from being a contributor of oxygen, it is said that this plant's leaves do not fall easily," he said while visiting the Jalan Sudirman area, Friday 1 December 2023

"So you can imagine how extraordinary it will be when these trees grow big and stand straight. "This will add oxygen to the Jalan Sudirman area which is starting to become dry," he continued.

Ema said there were around 15 trees that needed to be replaced. Apart from that, he asked the relevant OPD to ensure this tree grows upright.

“This really needs to be installed again with stakes (supports) so that it grows perpendicularly. "I asked Mr. Didi (Head of Bandung City DSDABM), who initiated it, to repair the stakes," said Ema.

For information, there are 100 pule trees planted in the Jalan Sudirman area (between the intersection of Jalan Gardu Jati and Jalan Jamika).

These trees were planted as a climate mitigation effort in the city of Bandung, which has recently experienced an increase in air temperatures. (ray)**
