Entering the Rainy Season, Let's Take Care of the Environment
Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, appealed to the public to always be alert during the rainy season. As an initial effort, people are expected to protect their respective environments.
"There are several riverbanks that are used as residences, so in that area we provide education to the community to anticipate landslides this rainy season," he explained, Tuesday 5 December 2023.
He revealed that in 2021 there will be 27 flood points in Cileuncang. However, in 2023, there will be 7 flood points.
"(The flood) was more than 1 cm and lasted more than 1 hour. This year we have also built retention ponds, like in the eastern region," he said.
According to him, retention ponds are able to reduce flooding when there is puddles.
"This helps when there is standing water, it can be diverted to retention ponds," he said.
There is also a Rain Mapag program. This activity aims to remove sedimentation and rubbish.
"Last month's Mapag Rain movement, from the material lifted from 26 tributaries, almost 11 thousand sediment and rubbish were collected," he said.
For this reason, Bambang invites the public to care about the environment, one of which is not to throw rubbish carelessly. (yan)**
