According to the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, the implementation of this Cheap Market is to provide the community with the opportunity to obtain basic necessities at affordable prices. Apart from that, it is also related to controlling inflation in the city of Bandung.

Bambang said that food supplies in Bandung City ahead of Christmas and New Year 2024 were still safe.

"Now it is still in the safe corridor, starting from the stock and price side," he said.

Meanwhile, Assistant for Economy and Development, Eric M. Attauriq, said that the Bandung City Government together with other stakeholders continue to monitor supply availability, prices and so on.

This is an effort to maintain the availability and control prices of basic necessities.

"This is actually a form of effort in the run-up to Christmas and New Year, so that existing commodities such as rice, chilies and oil are brought closer to the community," he said.

With this activity, he hopes to be able to reduce the prices of basic necessities in the next 2 - 4 weeks. So that the availability of basic commodities for the community is met.

"Hopefully this can reduce prices, because people's needs in the next 2-4 weeks will be met by this cheap market," he said.

One of the residents of Andir District, Poni (46) admitted that the Cheap Market really helped him. The reason is, it is closer to home and the price is relatively affordable.

"It's quite cheap, there are lots of choices here, there are vegetables and meat too," he said.

He hopes that these activities can continue to be carried out. "Thank God, the stock for home is safe, if possible the price would be even cheaper," he said. (yan)**
