This lake is a concrete form of the Bandung City Government's efforts to protect springs. This area was inaugurated directly by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, accompanied by the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Tedy Rusmawan and the Head of the Bandung City Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM), Didi Ruswandi, Wednesday 13 December 2023.

"This is a form of our commitment to sustainable management of water resources and the environment," said Bambang.

According to him, infrastructure work is something that is visible to the public. Every sustainable development with infrastructure is the main thing in every region.

"We agree that government administration includes infrastructure services. So try to keep the movement moving. PU is broad, creative, housing, residential, not just water resources," he explained.

With the beauty of this public space, Bambang entrusts it to the community to maintain it well.

"This requires attention and good care. Today the Bandung City Government inaugurated the spring conservation arrangement in North Bandung. We have the task of developing it, of course the community can take advantage of it," he said.

"I entrust it to the local residents. There is a Karang Taruna here, to look after it well. This has become a public space and is able to create creative ideas that can accelerate development in the city of Bandung," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Bandung City DSDABM, Didi Ruswandi, said that the area belongs to the Tirtawening Regional Drinking Water Company.

"The Citalaga Pasir land belongs to PDAM Tirtawening. We also use it for conservation," he said.

He revealed that currently there are 200 seke or springs recorded in the city of Bandung. Of this total, 167 seke remains. Meanwhile, around 67 seke areas still have water.

Currently, continued Didi, Citalaga Pasir is the 9th sector organized by the Bandung City Government. Its position is in the North Bandung area with an area of 1,785 square meters.

"This is also used by PDAM, there are 3 showers, 0.6 liters per second. It is also used by the Geger Kalong community. We started working on it last February on a self-managed basis," he said.

In the same place, the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Tedy Rusmawan, appreciated the Bandung City Government's steps in utilizing the spring land.

"Of course this provides benefits for the community. Moreover, the lake must be controlled, it can be used for activities that are beneficial to the community," he said. (yan)**
