Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, welcomed the decline in food commodity prices ahead of Christmas.

"When compared with commodity prices in the past few weeks, we are monitoring a decline in prices," said Bambang when reviewing food commodity prices ahead of Christmas at the Bandung City Simple Market, Thursday 21 December 2023.

Bambang said that the Bandung City Government always strives to maintain commodity prices in a stable position and ensure their availability.

“There is potential for an increase. "Even so, we are trying to maintain food prices and also their availability in a safe position," he explained.

He hopes that the downward trend in food commodity prices can continue to be maintained. Bambang said, it is hoped that this will also increase people's purchasing power.

Apart from that, Bambang also said that the Bandung City Government has a food safety laboratory, so that apart from relatively low prices and sufficient availability, food in Bandung City is guaranteed to be safe for consumption.

"Hopefully, from several samplings that we communicate with traders. "This can continue so that people's purchasing power can increase," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bandung City Trade and Industry Service, Elly Wasliah, said that the trend in food commodity prices in Bandung City during Christmas could be said to be positive.

He considers this to be the result of collaboration between various OPDs in Bandung City. Starting from the Bandung City Disdagin, Bandung City DKPP, and Bulog.

As for commodities that experienced an increase, such as granulated sugar at a price of Rp. 16,000, this was because the Bapanas reference price increased from Rp. 14,500 to Rp. 16,000.

“Even so, all supplies are safe. "God willing, we will keep it stable until the end of the year," said Elly. (ray)**
