The commemoration of Mother's Day is not just a calendar moment, but also an appreciation of the great role of women in the history of the struggle for independence, which was marked by the Women's Congress on 19-25 December 1928.

The third Congress in Bandung in 1938 designated December 22 as Mother's Day, becoming a historical basis for commemorating and appreciating the contributions of women.

"The peak of the commemoration in Bandung City took place earlier, held on December 18 2023 at Dewi Sartika Park with the main theme "Empowered Women in Advanced Indonesia" and the sub-theme "Empowered Women, Creative Women" as an encouragement for the diversity of women's roles in national development," he said .

In commemoration of Mother's Day, explained Uum, DP3A Bandung City also collaborated with a number of organizations, including Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK). Through competitions and awards, PKK provides recognition to mothers who are dedicated to advancing development in the family environment.

"Half of the population of Bandung City are women, and almost 20 percent are female heads of households. The role of women is certainly in the political, economic, social and other fields, even carrying out multiple roles, carrying out household work at home, so this heavy role "Women must still be able to do it so that the quality of the family remains good," he explained.

For this reason, continued Uum, DP3A also held an economic celebration in the form of a training program supported by the Bandung City Baznaz in terms of capital.

"This training provides women with the skills to compete in the business world and improve the family economy," he said

Not only that, celebrating Mother's Day also collaborates with Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to hold cheap markets. This activity provides economic support to women who are survivors of violence and women who are heads of families.

"We provide training ranging from making products to marketing, including sewing and pastry training, to strengthen and empower them," he said.

Uum also invited all women in the city of Bandung to continue to increase their capacity in the family and community.

"With the spirit of 'Empowered Women, Creative Women', it is hoped that women will be able to make a positive contribution to the development of the city of Bandung," said Uum. (tiw)**
