Ahead of Nyepi Day, Saka New Year 1946, Acting Mayor Invites to Strengthen Religious Harmony

Representing the residents of Bandung City, Bambang wished Hindus a happy Nyepi Day.

"I represent the people of Bandung City, wishing happy congratulations to the Hindu people who will celebrate Nyepi Day, Saka New Year 1946," he said.

At this moment, Bambang stated that relations between religious communities in the city of Bandung had developed harmony. Therefore, he hopes that religious harmony in the city of Bandung must continue to be maintained.

"In the current momentum, let's strengthen religious harmony and mutual tolerance between religious communities for a more advanced and developed city of Bandung," he asked.

As is known, Nyepi Day in Saka 1946 in Indonesia will fall on March 11 2024. So the celebration coincides with the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims.

“In my opinion, this year's Hindu celebration of Nyepi is historic. "Because it coincides with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan," he said.

Bambang also expressed his gratitude for the contribution of Hindus in advancing the city of Bandung.

"Thank you for contributing to development so that the city of Bandung progresses, both in terms of economy, education, health and especially religious harmony," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, PHDI Representative for Bandung City, Nyoman Nesawan, said that the theme of this year's Nyepi Day Celebration is Sat Cit Ananda for Indonesia Jaya.

“That sat contains true truth. We live on this earth and are expected to uphold the truth according to our beliefs. "Especially in Hinduism, the real truth is sat him, God Almighty," he explained.

Then, Cit is pure consciousness in Hinduism which means having true consciousness among other creatures.

"Ananda is pure happiness, happiness, inner and outer world and the hereafter," he explained

"For Indonesia Jaya, how can we as children of the nation realize the basic values of religious law and state law," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Bandung City Religious Forum (FKUB), H. Ahmad Suherman, also expressed his desire to increase religious harmony in Bandung City.

"The city of Bandung is expected to become a laboratory for religious harmony and moderation," he hoped.

“We are all brothers. All these differences do not have to be made uniform. Moreover, it must be abolished. "All differences and diversity must be bound by brotherhood, togetherness, and a strong awareness that we are fellow countrymen and brothers," he added. (ziz)**
