Commemorating the 105th Anniversary of the Fire Department, Acting Mayor: Increase the Professionalism of Fire and Rescue
Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, said that when providing services to the community, the professionalism of fire and rescue fighters is a must. Therefore, professionalism must continue to be maintained and improved so that people always feel safe and protected.
This was expressed by Bambang when he was the Inspector of the 105th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony for the Bandung City Fire and Rescue Department at the City Hall Plaza, Thursday 7 March 2024.
"That is the spirit that we want to embody in the theme of the 2024 Fire and Rescue Anniversary, namely professional Fire and Rescue, the people are protected," said Bambang.
Bambang said that the Fire and Rescue organization, which is more than a century old, is a reminder that the services provided have always had a place in the hearts of the community.
Based on national reports, officers have contributed to handling a number of fire incidents throughout 2023.
The most common causes of fires were human negligence at 47 percent, electrical short circuits (15 percent), gas cylinders (5 percent) and various other causes (33 percent).
Apart from handling fire incidents, the fire and rescue department has carried out various non-fire or rescue operations.
Throughout 2023 a number of rescue operations have been carried out with the most rescue operations being animal rescue at 65 percent, handling and crossing finger rings (7 percent) and handling fallen trees (3 percent) as well as various other non-fire rescue operations (25 percent).
Therefore, he gave the highest appreciation to all Fire and Rescue officers who have shown their professionalism in carrying out their duties and always prioritize the main vision of the fire brigade.
Meanwhile, to improve the professionalism and welfare of regional Fire and Rescue apparatus, the Ministry of Home Affairs together with the relevant Ministries have initiated the formation of functional fire fighting positions.
This is as stated in the PAN RB ministerial regulation Number 16 of 2019 concerning the functional position of fire fighter and also the functional position of fire analyst in accordance with the Minister of PAN RB's regulation number 17 of 2013 concerning the functional position of fire analyst.
"In addition to meeting the needs of the Fire and Rescue apparatus, strengthening the existing apparatus also needs to be done, among other things, by increasing the capacity of the Fire and Rescue apparatus," he said.
Finally, Bambang gave greetings to the 105th anniversary of the Fire and Rescue Department.
"I wish you a happy birthday. Continue to improve your service by providing protection and a sense of security to the community," he concluded.
On this occasion, awards were also presented to members of the Bandung City PB Diskar who won awards at the provincial and national levels. (rob)**
