Bambang said that population growth in the Greater Bandung area is inevitable. This is also in line with the growth in the number of vehicles used by people as a means of daily mobility.

Therefore, it is necessary to provide mass transportation solutions that support community activities to or from the Bandung City area.

"Like it or not, the Bandung basin area has extraordinary population growth," said Bambang after signing a Joint Commitment for Synergy in the Development of a Digital-based Taxation System as well as a Memorandum of Agreement between the Ministry of Transportation, the West Java Regional Government and the Regency/City Governments in the Greater Bandung Region for the operationalization of BRT in the City. Bandung, Thursday 7 March 2024.

Bambang is optimistic that BRT operations will be able to reduce traffic jams in the city of Bandung. Apart from that, the presence of BRT will encourage people's behavior to start using mass transportation.

On the other hand, the Bandung City Government will also carry out "re-routing" and studies to ensure the continuity of BRT and mass transportation that already exist in Bandung City.

“We will arrange the route. "We will study it together," said Bambang.

Apart from BRT, Bambang also said that the presence of the Bandung Intra Urban Toll Road (BIUTR) is another effort to reduce congestion in the city of Bandung. On behalf of the Bandung City Government, he positively welcomed the plan to continue BIUTR development by the PUPR Ministry.

“BIUTR is the dream of the people of Bandung City. The community has been waiting 17 years. "And currently, the Central Government wants to be able to have groundbreaking by 2024," said Bambang.

“The presence of BIUTR and BRT is very urgent. "We both know what the traffic density is like in Bandung City," he concluded.

On this occasion, Acting West Java Regional Secretary Taufiq Budi Santoso hoped that the presence of BRT would increase the interest of people in the Greater Bandung area to switch to using public transportation.

"(The presence of BRT) is expected to improve urban transportation services in the Bandung basin area," said Taufiq. (ray)**
