Ahead of Ramadan, Bandung City Government Ensures Surplus of 12 Strategic Foods
Head of the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP), Gin Gin Ginanjar, confirmed that the availability of 12 strategic foods in Bandung City, from rice to vegetables, shows that the condition is actually currently in surplus.
Thus, the food stock of Bandung City ahead of Ramadan 1445 Hijriah is safe.
"We are intensively coordinating to prepare food availability. Especially facing this Ramadan," admitted Gin Gin, Thursday 7 March 2024.
Nevertheless, Gin Gin admits that there are things that must be anticipated to ensure the continued availability and stability of food prices.
Generally, when facing the Holy month of Ramadan, demand for various products will increase. Including demand for various types of strategic food.
"One of the anticipatory steps, we have directed traders in the city of Bandung to prepare stock exceeding 10 percent of usual to meet the increase in demand," explained Gin Gin.
Gin Gin explained that another anticipation is strengthening food reserves by utilizing reserve warehouses.
"Using food reserve warehouses as an initial alternative to anticipate increasing demand during the month of Ramadan is a wise step," he said.
Previously, the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono chaired the Leadership Meeting, Preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan, in the Bandung City Hall Meeting Room, on Thursday, March 7 2024.
Bambang reminded that people usually shop in the first and third weeks of Ramadan or before Eid. That's when there was an increase in demand for a number of basic commodities.
"Usually in the first week and third week before Eid al-Fitr, people will panic about buying something," he said.
Therefore, Bambang hopes that this can be anticipated.
