Ahead of Ramadan, KH Miftah Faridl Invites Muslims to Worship with Joy

Chairman of the Bandung City Ulema Council, KH. Miftah Faridl hopes that Muslims will carry out their worship during the month of Ramadan happily. This is in accordance with what the Prophet Muhammad SAW ordered to Muslims.

"The message of Rasulullah SAW was shown to his friends, be happy to meet the month full of blessings, the good night of 1,000 months. Because the month of Ramadan is full of good deeds and great rewards," he said.

He expressed this during the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) gathering with ulama and umaro ahead of Ramadan 1445 Hijriah at the Bandung City Hall, Friday 8 March 2024.

This activity was attended by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, who was represented by the Assistant for Government and Social Welfare for the City of Bandung, Asep Saeful Gufron, Kapolrestabes Bandung, Pol Kombes Budi Sartono, the management of MUI, NU, Muhamadiyah, Persis and Pondok Pesantren.

Miftah urged that during fasting, the need for patience and trust in carrying out obligations. This is to support humans to remain patient.

"The month of Ramadan tests our patience, so we must be strong and able to fight our desires," he said.

Meanwhile, Assistant for Government and Social Welfare for the City of Bandung, Asep Saeful Gufron, hopes that all stakeholders in the City of Bandung will maintain the sanctity of Ramadan. For this reason, the community needs an active role in anticipating the worst possibility when disasters and crimes occur.

"We also hope that the role of religious leaders will always be to remind their followers about the importance of protecting the environment from bad possibilities. After various preventative efforts have been carried out, the next step is to be patient and trust in living your life," he said.

He said, Rasulullah SAW called Ramadan as Sayyidus Syuhur or the most glorious month. Ramadan brings mercy, blessings and forgiveness from Allah SWT.

"It is called the greatest month because this is the only month that is mentioned directly by Allah SWT in the Koran," he said.

This month, continued Asep, Allah SWT ordered Muslims to fast. This is so that Muslims can survive the fire of hell and enter heaven through a special door called Ar Royyan.

​"Hopefully we can be one of the followers of the Prophet who received the blessings of Ramadan so that we can become muttaqin individuals and can spread various goodness to the people of Bandung City," he said. (yan)**
