High DHF Cases, Bandung City Government Urges Residents to Increase Vigilance!

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has intensified efforts to anticipate the spread of dengue fever (DHF). Head of the Bandung City Health Service (Dinkes), Anhar Hadian, said there were five steps being taken massively.

The first step is to reactivate the Jumantik movement or Larval Monitoring Officers. Ideally, one house has one Jumantik person whose job is to eradicate mosquito nests.

"In accordance with the leadership's orders, in this case the Acting Mayor and Acting Regional Secretary, we are reinvigorating Jumantik," said Anhar after the DHF Case Mapping Coordination Meeting at City Hall, Tuesday 26 March 2024.

Furthermore, the Bandung City Government will also carry out a Rapid Diagnosis Test (RDT) as an effort to early detect the spread of dengue fever. This is also simultaneous with the abatement process or giving abate powder to places flooded with water, including bathtubs, flower vases and so on.

Not only that, efforts to eradicate mosquito nests or potential mosquito larvae also involve the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH). In this case, Bandung City DLH will play a role in cleaning potential mosquito breeding sites.

The next effort that has just been carried out in Ujungberung District is the development of Wolbachia. As is known, the city of Bandung is one of the cities that implements Wolbachia as an effort to prevent the spread of dengue fever.

Anhar revealed that as of Friday 22 March 2024, the number of dengue fever cases in Bandung City had reached 2,098 cases. Therefore, he asked all parties to increase vigilance.

"2,098 cumulative cases throughout 2024. This is data as of Friday," he confirmed.

In closing, Anhar reminded the people of Bandung City of two things:

First, the people of Bandung City must ensure that their places of residence and activities are free from mosquito larvae. Second, if a family member at home has a fever, immediately access the nearest health facility.

"If a family member has a fever, don't wait until it gets worse. Access public health services immediately," he advised. (ray)**
