March 2024 Inflation Development Released, Bandung City Government Prepares a Number of Steps

Even so, month to month (MtM) inflation in Bandung City in March 2024 was 0.55 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.98. This number is higher than West Java MtM inflation of 0.51 percent, while National MtM inflation was 0.52 percent.

According to Bandung City BPS data, several commodities contributed to inflation this month, namely purebred chicken eggs at 0.11 percent; rice (0.09 percent); chicken meat (0.06 percent); Machine-made Clove Cigarettes (0.04 percent); jewelry gold (0.04 percent); cayenne pepper (0.03 percent); beef (0.02 percent); garlic (0.02 percent); shallots (0.01 percent); and red chilies (-0.06 percent).

On the other hand, the Bandung City Government has made various efforts to reduce the rising inflation rate. One of them was by giving 16,200 cayenne pepper seeds, 150 kilograms of shallots and 30 sachets of tomato seeds to the Buruan Sae group at 30 points throughout Bandung City involving BJB Tamansari.

Symbolically, this assistance was given to the Sae Sawargi Hunting Group RW 03, Cipadung Kidul Village, Panyileukan District, Monday 1 April 2024. Head of the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Service, Gin Gin Ginanjar, said that the assistance would be given to 30 locations and divided into two stages. .

"This is the first stage. We also provide supporting facilities and infrastructure starting from pesticides, fertilizers and nurseries so that it is hoped that the group can carry out nurseries and the program will be sustainable," said Gin Gin.

He explained that food is crucial in efforts to control inflation. Various efforts have been made with a food security approach and Buruan Sae has been able to control inflation.

Apart from this approach, the Bandung City Government is also trying other ways to reduce inflation. One of them is holding a market operation or Cheap Food Festival (GPM). This is intended so that people can access food commodities at affordable prices.

Most recently, GPM was held at the PT yard. Malleesso Investama Abadi, Jalan Mekar Mulya No. 2, Panyileukan, Bandung City.

The provision of aid for cayenne pepper seeds, shallots, tomatoes and GPM as an effort to control inflation in Bandung City was also welcomed positively by the Acting Chair of the Bandung City TP PKK, Linda Nurani Hapsah.

He said this assistance could provide food independence for families in the city of Bandung. He also hopes that the people of Bandung City can make planting activities a daily culture for residents.

On the other hand, Linda said that the presence of GPM could make it easier for people to access cheap food commodities. Especially in the period leading up to holidays, there is often an increase in the prices of a number of food commodities.

Linda also advised the people of Bandung City not to need to buy excessive food commodities ahead of Eid al-Fitr because the stock of food commodities in Bandung City is still sufficient.
