Bringing Order, Bandung City Satpol PP Drags Dozens of Street Vendors to the Green Table

A total of 22 street vendors (PKL) underwent a trial at the Special Class 1A Bandung District Court, Friday 26 April 2024. They underwent a trial for a minor crime (Tipiring) for violating Article 21 paragraph (1) letter f Jo. Article 55 Regional Regulation no. 9 of 2019 concerning Public Order and Peace in the City of Bandung.

The street vendors were proven to be trading and storing goods or trading tools in prohibited places (red zones), namely on Jalan Dalemkaum, Jalan Dewi Sartika, Jalan Kepatihan, Taman Alun-alun, Jalan Asia-Afrika, and Taman Tegalega.

Head of the Investigation and Enforcement Section of the Bandung City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Mujahid Syuhada, said that the violators who were tried for tipiring were the result of controlling street vendors selling in the red zone.

Mujahid emphasized that enforcement would continue to be intensified to provide a deterrent effect to stubborn street vendors. Thus, the red zone is free from street vendors and can be used by the community according to its intended purpose.

"This is also an effort to bring order to the city, especially after Eid," he said.

A total of 14 defendants were proven to have violated Article 55 jo. Article 21 paragraph (1) letter a Regional Regulation no. 9 of 2019 concerning Tibumtranlinmas and each defendant was sentenced to a fine of IDR 100,000 subsidiary to 2 days in prison and ordered to pay court costs of IDR 2,000.

Meanwhile, 8 defendants were sentenced to court for not attending court with a fine of IDR 200,000, subsidiary to 2 days in prison and ordered to pay court costs of IDR 2,000.

Not only that, Satpol PP also brought violators who cut down trees without permission on Jalan Anggrek to justice.

The defendant was sentenced to a fine of IDR 2,000,000 subsidiary to 2 days in prison and ordered to pay court costs of IDR 2,000. (rob)**
