Apart from being available, Yana also ensures that the prices of basic commodities are relatively stable. This was obtained by Yana after reviewing Pasar Baru, Wednesday 15 March 2023.

"Thank God, some of the basic needs, in terms of stock, are relatively safe," Yana said during the inspection.

Yana said that although several basic commodities have increased, such as chicken eggs and cayenne pepper, they are still relatively stable.

"There was an increase in commodity prices such as chicken eggs and cayenne pepper, but the other (staple staples) were relatively stable," he said.

"Earlier, if you look at the average increase in the price of eggs, it was around Rp. 2,000 - Rp. 3,000. This week it was because people started making pastries. The supply is plentiful but the demand is also increasing. Maybe there is an increase from upstream," he added.

Yana also ensures that the stocks of rice and cooking oil are still sufficient.

During the review, the Food Security and Agriculture Service (DKPP) conducted tests on the feasibility of consuming a number of commodities. As a result, there are no dyes or preservatives and are safe for consumption.

"Tested by DKPP, the rice has no dyes, the meat is fresh and there are no pesticides. It's safe for consumption," he said.

Apart from that, Yana advised traders to give fair prices and not to hold back goods.

"Traders don't hold back goods, just give fair prices. Don't overdo it, don't have 'panic buying' to keep it under control," he said.

In the same place, the Head of the Trade and Industry Office for the City of Bandung, Elly Wasliah, said that the increase in the price of chicken eggs was due to an increase in demand.

"The price of eggs is IDR 29,000 per kilogram. There is an increase above the HET, amounting to IDR 2,000. The trader said, only in the last three days the price has become IDR 27,000," he admits.

"The city of Bandung has many culinary tours, pastries, wet cakes so there is an increase in demand for egg stock," he explained.

Meanwhile, prices for beef and chicken, Elly said, were normal.

Here are some prices of staples in the city of Bandung:
1. Red cayenne pepper IDR 70,000
2. Red onion IDR 40,000
3. Garlic IDR 25,000 - IDR 30,000
4. Chicken Rp. 33,000 - Rp. 35,000
5. Beef IDR 130,000 - IDR 150,000
