The Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail (KCJB) route is again the subject of discussion between the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) with the Director General of Railways and the Department of Transportation. Ciroyom is one of the location points for the KCJB line which is the focus of improvement.

The Director of Railway Infrastructure, Harno Trimadi explained, if the KCJB was already functioning, then every 10-15 minutes the train would often pass through the Ciroyom area. In fact, geographically, the Ciroyom area is a traffic-heavy point.

"Ciroyom's terrain is declining. If the duration of the trains passing will be that frequent, it can cause many negative impacts. We plan to build a flyover and pedestrian bridge (JPO) next year," explained Harno.

In addition, Harno added, the problems in Ciroyom are not only due to terrain factors, but also include flood-prone areas. In fact, the fast train is very risky if it passes through a flood point.

"To deal with this problem, we also plan to make drainage by looking for the nearest river point as a place to dispose of excess water," he added.

According to Harno, the two projects to revamp the KCJB will be discussed more thoroughly in order to provide the best solution for train users and the surrounding community who use traffic lanes every day.

"Don't let the train run smoothly, but the road to the train station is blocked. We also don't want the public to be disturbed by KCJB passing by. Not to mention ordinary trains that also pass by," he said.

In line with Harno's opinion, Head of Bandung City Development Administration, Tammi Lasmini conveyed the importance of providing flyover facilities at the Padalarang point.

"If this is not active later, vehicles passing through Padalarang traffic will be increasingly congested. So, we need a flyover to make it easier for people to access the route to Bandung City," said Tammi.

In addition, said Tammi, one of the most crucial locations is also in South Gedebage. If later Tegalluar will become one of the end points of KCJB, the road segment in South Gedebage needs to be expanded.

"Yesterday we also discussed with local residents. They want a widening for the southern region that connects Tegalluar with Jalan Soekarno Hatta," he said.

Responding to this discussion, the Acting Mayor (Plt) of the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana expressed his hope that this KCJB would better have a stopping point closer to the center of Bandung City. That way, people can more easily visit Bandung.

"We need a connection to the center of Bandung City. Hopefully later there can be a train to Kebon Kawung or around Leuwih Panjang," he said. (din)**
