After waiting for more than a year, finally the construction of the Kopo Flyover on Jalan Raya Soekarno-Hatta, Bandung City will soon be completed.

The Regional Secretary (Sekda) for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, said that the target for this flyover will be completed by the end of April 2022.

"Hopefully it will start operating or be used by the community during Lebaran. Hopefully with this flyover it can break down congestion in the city of Bandung," said Ema on the sidelines of a review of the construction of the Kopo flyover, Friday, February 25, 2022.

Until now, the flyover, which has been under construction since November 2020, has reached 80 percent progress.

Even so, Ema added, there are still several problems that need to be resolved regarding the construction of this flyover. One of them is the acquisition of land owned by residents around the east of the flyover.

"This land belongs to the community, so further discussions are needed. I will ask the sub-district head to check who owns it, then we will communicate from the beginning," he said.

According to Ema, what is considered in the construction of this flyover is not only the smooth flow of traffic, but also the security of entry and exit access.

"This flyover is not only to facilitate the connectivity of traffic flows that were previously on the lower road moving up. But also how to access in and out must also be considered, it must be smooth to stay safe," he explained.

In addition, Ema also said, although it is not an urgent matter, the target is that the land around the Caringin Market will also be acquired.

"For the sake of long-term smoothness, the land around the Caringin Market must also be a part that needs to be acquired. They are also ready to synergize, but yes, it must be in accordance with existing regulations," added Ema.

This flyover acceleration is an effort by the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) together with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to reduce traffic congestion on the road linking Bandung City and Bandung Regency.

Project Manager PT. Housing Development (PP), Angga Johar Waluyo said the 1.7 km long flyover consists of 1.3 km bridge construction and 0.4 km frontage.

To complete the rest of the construction this week, Angga said, PT. PP together with related agencies coordinate to make road engineering.

"From the observations of the Traffic Corps and the local Transportation Service for three weeks, engineering with traffic lights actually causes congestion. Therefore, for further engineering, the Kopo intersection will be closed tomorrow from the north and south," said Angga.

"For vehicles from the north, we will turn to the left, while vehicles from the south will turn under the flyover," he added. (din)**
