World Consumer Rights Day is observed every 15 March. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of every citizen about consumer rights and needs and to have all the information needed to make the right decision.

Thus, knowing the rights as consumers is very important because people can identify rights as consumers.

In the city of Bandung, there is the Bandung City Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency (BPSK).

"We BPSK are fighting to improve the rights and dignity of consumers, especially to the City Government whose guidance is very much felt by BPSK in Bandung City," said Member of the Bandung City Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency (BPSK) Rudi Sundaya, Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

"BPSK is an institution that handles consumer disputes, for the sake of protection for consumers themselves, BPSK must continue to be empowered, both in terms of aspects of coaching, operational funding," he added.

Rudi revealed, throughout 2022, BPSK handled 10 consumer dispute cases.

"Some cases have been completed, some are still ongoing, which is decided by BPSK either peacefully or legally. If the business actor violates the provisions of the consumer protection law, then there is compensation that must be given from the business actor," he added.

According to him, in 2021 and 2022 most of them are leasing business actors who take action forcibly to consumers' homes or on the road.

"For this case, we resolved it amicably, either by rescheduling in terms of repayment, or paying off the arrears," he concluded.

Rudi revealed that there were also cases involving housing developers that were reported by consumers.

BPSK Bandung City is open to residents who wish to report consumer disputes. Therefore, Rudi urges consumers if a business actor defaults on a previously agreed house construction agreement, it can be reported to BPSK.

If they feel that they have been harmed by business actors, if they are harmed, they can conduct deliberation.

If it turns out that business actors ignore consumer complaints, then report to BPSK and provide a letter for trial purposes. Furthermore, if it is complete, it will be submitted to the trial.

If an agreement has been reached between the consumer and the business actor, a new trial will be held.

Rudi emphasized that the trial was not subject to any fees for the small community. The settlement of the trial is carried out within 21 days from the receipt of the case that can be tried.

"Consumers should be more careful in buying products. Is the product quality or not? Must be able to assess the product. Moreover, it is preceded by an agreement," he urged.(asy)**
