Recently, the Bandung City Government is building green open space in the Binong Village area, Batununggal District. The green open space was built on land that was used to control the riverbanks.

In that location, the Bandung City Government will build sports facilities and tourism places.

"Public land is returned to be space and benefit for the public. There are tourism places and sports facilities," said Bandung City Regional Secretary, Ema Sumarna when visiting the Binong area, Friday July 1, 2022.

Ema hopes that the presence of public open space facilities can increase the community's happiness index.

"The community can really take full advantage of it. Hopefully, with this kind of facilitation, the community's happiness index will increase," he said.

Even so, there are some things that need to be fixed immediately. One of them is from the aspect of riverbank security.

"Although there are a number of things that must be progressed immediately. Examples of security aspects around riverbanks. If people don't concentrate, they can fall into the river, in PIPPK it is quite hard for us to push from the DSDABM (Water Resources and Bina Marga Service)," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bandung City DSDABM, Didi Ruswandi, said that the construction of green open space in Binong Village was a follow-up to the enforcement by Sector 22 of Citarum Harum.

Currently, Didi admits that he has accelerated the development of the regulated area into a community tourism area and educational facility.

"Initially, illegal buildings were cleaned up, transformed into tourism facilities and public education," said Didi

"Because if there is an undefined space, it's dangerous, it can have a negative connotation. We are accelerating the development of areas that have been published," he continued.

Didi said that the green open space in Binong Village was built on an area of 1367 meters. There will be several facilities built including bicycle tracks and an aquascape or underwater park.

"In addition, there will be Cikapundung urban forest and clean water treatment," he said.

The plan is that the green space will be inaugurated on July 24, 2022 and will be named Ciko Arena 1 or Cikapundung Kolot Arena 1.

The development of the green open space was enthusiastically welcomed by the residents, one of whom was from Royanto, the head of RW 06, Binong sub-district.

"Alhamdulillah, the residents welcome it, in the future it can also be used by residents. Besides that, the community's economy can be empowered," he said.

"Hopefully it can be managed by local residents," he continued. (rob)*
