To improve access to education, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) will build 16 new Junior High School (SMP) buildings.

In 2022, the Bandung City Government will build 2 new junior high schools to cover the shortage of junior high schools.

"Yesterday we lacked schools for junior high schools. So 16 filial junior high schools were built, namely junior high schools but the buildings were combined with existing junior high schools, or the nearest elementary school," said Secretary of the Bandung City Education Office (Disdik), Tantan Syurya Santana, at Bandung City Hall, Wednesday. July 6, 2022.

"Hopefully in 2022, 2 new junior high schools will be built, from 16 filial ones. So, the buildings can be separated," he continued.

The two junior high schools were built in the Sukajadi and Riung areas, Bandung. Built in the area, to facilitate the area of blind spot zoning.

"We are also facilitating junior high schools which are blind spots in areas that still have equal access, especially access for junior high schools. Hopefully this year the allocation can be made in Sukajadi because it is far from here and there," he said.

Tantan said, 14 of the planned 16 junior high schools will be built in 2023.

"This year, 2 filial buildings were built from 16 schools. So there are only 14 left. Hopefully in 2023 we propose several locations for land assets," he said.

According to him, the construction of this junior high school is also for equitable access to PPDB in various regions.

"There are several blind spots in Sukajadi, 8 in Ujungberung, and Gedebage also needs several SMP locations. So that access to PPDB pass will not be difficult," said Tantan.

Regarding teacher needs, he said that currently his party is mapping the needs of the new junior high school teacher.

"We'll just have to think about the filial teacher later. Don't worry about the mandatory basic needs that are still prioritized," he said. (rob)**
