To Handle Floods, Cisanggarung Retention Pond Is Projected To Be Available Early 2023

When visiting the location, Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, explained that the retention pond, which is built on an area of about 1.2 hectares, has a capacity of 6,000 cubic meters. This pool can absorb water which is a potential flood in the Arcamanik area and its surroundings.

"Although not everything has been completed, this is significant and has had an impact on flood management in the area," said Ema in the Cisanggarung Retention Pool area, Tuesday 20 December 2022.

He also had time to give directions to the Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM) and territorial areas to do various things, from reforesting the retention pond area, to efforts to build access roads.

According to Ema, in the future this area could become an alternative tourist destination.

“For now, the direction may not be there yet. But how does this retention pond function to hold water that causes flooding. But in the future, with the greening process, it is not impossible for us to have extraordinary natural destinations," he explained.

As for access, he asked the regional party to coordinate with the land owner for land acquisition efforts. Meanwhile DSDABM made studies related to infrastructure such as bridges.

"I'm sure the Bandung City Government has the ability to do that," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Bandung City DSDABM Didi Ruswandi is optimistic that the Cisanggarung Retention Pond can be a solution for dealing with flooding in the Arcamanik area and its surroundings.

Going forward, DSDABM will improve the infrastructure in this retention pond.

"I think it can be inaugurated in early 2023. Hopefully it will be realized," said Didi. (ray)**
