Sidewalk Task Force Immediately Moves to Control Illegal Parking
Sidewalks that should function for pedestrians are often misused as illegal parking by drivers. To control this, Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna directed the formation of a sidewalk task force under the leading sector of the Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM) assisted by Satpol PP and the Transportation Agency.
"There are lots of illegal parking lots, one of which is in front of the zoo (Jalan Babakan Siliwangi). We will install bollards (stakes or sidewalk guardrails). We will also place officers from the Transportation Agency and Satpol PP to guard the sidewalks around there," he said. Emma, Friday 12 May 2023.
He emphasized that there should not be any levies that are used by unscrupulous persons. If someone does, they will be prosecuted by Saber Extortion.
"I asked for it to be clear there, that there should be no parking. No one should even make extortions," said Ema.
Because according to him, no one has the right to park on the sidewalk anywhere. Therefore, his party continues to be creative so that these sidewalks function optimally for pedestrians.
"This includes reducing the blubak (box for the base of the tree) which from an aesthetic aspect is also inappropriate and hinders optimizing road use," he said.
After being tested on Jalan Babakan Siliwangi, the Sidewalk Task Force will expand to other places. Apart from guarding against illegal parking, the Task Force is also tasked with maintaining sidewalk infrastructure.
"We will make curbs or curbs elevated so that people don't use the sidewalk to park. Bollards are cast. Every Saturday and Sunday they (the sidewalk task force) guard here," he asked.
Apart from that, Ema also directed that blumbuk which was not functioning properly be closed down.
"The median of public roads except Dago may not have blumbuk. Just cover it with small stones," he said. (din)
